Entroido, antroido, entroiro, entruido or entrudio1 is a popular carnival festival in Galicia, with particular and differentiated tints between the various localities. Its importance in the region can be measured with the following data: most of the Galician municipalities declared local holidays some of the carnival days. The roots of the carnival in Galicia is given by the fact that despite its prohibition at the time of the dictatorship, it continued to be celebrated in rural areas by the villages, thus preserving its cultural wealth.
